# Scoplen

> A self-hosted SSH client and bastion. Reach each host directly or through the bastion; access expires on its own and is recorded where you need it.

Status: in development. Nothing can be downloaded or installed yet; everything below describes the intended product. Scoplen is a Plystra project (https://plystra.com).

## What it is

- A desktop SSH client: terminals, files over SFTP, tunnels, snippets, saved workspaces, and Mosh. It imports ~/.ssh/config without changing it, reports what it cannot represent, and writes one included file so plain `ssh` keeps working.
- A bastion and server you run yourself: end-to-end encrypted sync between your devices and shared folders; teams with short-lived OpenSSH certificates and access requests; gateways into private networks that can record and end sessions, used only by hosts you assign.

## Guarantees it is designed around

- A machine reachable today stays reachable without any Scoplen service, unless its owner deliberately routes it through a gateway. If a Scoplen server is down, connections keep working; only sync waits.
- A route can only prove what it sees: direct connections with certificates record who was allowed and why; only gateway routes record sessions.
- The server stores synced data it cannot read.
- Self-hosting is the whole product: no paid tier, no feature held back.
- Everything can be exported as documented JSON or plain OpenSSH files.
